| Course summary: | Up to 10 delegates can attend which equates to £59.50 each! This course is suitable for staff in shops and offices where there are a small number of people in the workplace. The usual number of employees is less than twenty-five and hazard risk is assessed as low. This course is designed to teach delegates essential life-saving training prior to the arrival of an ambulance and is ideal for people involved in shops and offices, working with a small number of employees. A certificate of competency is issued to delegates who perform to a satisfactory standard. It is recommended that this course is undertaken annually. | |

Suitable for
This course is designed for smaller workplaces that present few health and safety risks where a nominated person is required to take charge in the event of illness or accident. EFAW training enables a first-aider to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work. Fully qualified First Aiders at Work (FAW) in larger organisations can also benefit from additional support from Appointed Persons.
Guidance on First-Aid Provision
This gives the minimum numbers of people to deal with first-aid emergencies.
Lower risk organisations:
| Under 50 employees | at least one appointed person |
| 50 - 100 employees | at least one first-aider per 100 employed |
| Over 100 employees | one additional first-aider for every 100 |
Medium risk organisations (e.g. light engineering, warehousing):
| Under 20 employees | at least one appointed person |
| 20 - 100 employees | at least one first-aider per 50 employed (or part thereof) |
| Over 100 employees | one additional first-aider for every 100 |
Higher risk organisations (e.g. construction, chemical manufacturer):
| Under 5 employees | at least one appointed person |
| 5 - 50 employees | at least one first-aider |
| Over 50 employees | one additional first-aider for every 50 employed |
